: Hey,
: I know the fact that there is no visable smoke on the first or second floors might make this seem improbable, but does anyone think this could be vertical extension up an open shaft from a basement fire? I know we have som places in my district that I think might present like this if we had a basement fire, open shaft from the basement to the top floor. Would anyone want to at least have the basement checked to rule out this posability?
: The thing about this fire that keeps making me scratch my head is how little smoke is showing from the third floor in some of the early shots. If the fire originated on the third and then extended to the fourth, I would expect a little mor smok to be showing from the third floor windows befor such heavy smoke was showing from the fourth floor windows. What do you think?

Anything is possible! Most times when the fire is in a shaft a tell tail sign is sparks shooting high from the roof.
It does seem that the fire stared on the third and extended up but I have seen the reverse happen when gasoline is pored on the fourth floor and it gets so hot that it will burn a hole in the floor and the fire will drop down to the floor below!
