"February 24, 1968 Monroe Street between Throop and Tomkins Avenue"

Before arrival of FD units, a mother and her four children were trapped on the top floor.

She threw 3 of the kids out the front window to police waiting below, 2 were caught but one struck the ground.

Mother escaped out the rear after making a futile attempt to find the 4th child who died. Engine Company 235 is stopped at the front stoop because the staircase has been burned away.
